In order to keep dangerous fugitives from causing harm to innocent people in this community, my team of fugitive hunters has to employ any resource possible in our efforts. We have been successful in the past with various methods, but this time we were really in a bad way because time was running out before this fugitive seriously injured someone during his crime spree.
We tried to stay close to this suspects family and friends to see if they would lead us to the suspect, but they were all either very careful or completely out of the loop. My team knew that if another week passed, he would most likely hit another bank and possibly do more that just tie up the tellers.
My team was at the local jail on a hunch a fellow inmate could shed light on the suspect and his whereabouts, when we discovered Securus Technologies was finishing up the installation of their call monitor system that allowed officers to hear the inmates talking on the phone. I decided this might be an easier way to get the inmates to talk to us without them really saying anything directly to us.
Securus Technologies has their phone systems in over two thousand prisons, and the CEO Richard Smith, says his company is focused on one object of keeping the world safer for us all. Once I understood how the LBS software worked, we dove right in to see if anyone had out suspect on their radar.
That week we discovered our suspect did have some enemies on the inside who felt he ratted them out when he was still an inmate. The calls pointed us to a connection the suspect had with a former inmate, who was supposedly working together as a team. When we traced that inmates calls, it lead us right to the door of our suspect too.
